This video shows all Austrian Parliamentary elections from 1879 to 2019.
The elections were held according to the curia arrangement that was instituted in 1873 to complement the implementation of direct elections. Voters were classified according to their status and wealth into four (from 1897 five) curiae (class):
I. Landowners (85 seats)
II. Male city residents who were annually paying at least 5 guilders worth of taxes (118 seats)
III. Trade and industry chambers (21 seats)
IV. Large and medium farmers (129 seats)
V. All men older than 24 (72 seats)
Universal male suffrage was introduced after an electoral reform abolishing tax-paying requirements for voters in 1907. However, seat allocations were based on tax revenues from the States.
