More than 1,200 African rhinos were killed by poachers in 2017. Although the figure is slightly lower than the previous year, the fight to protect the endangered species remains a challenge. Project Rhino is one organisation trying to protect the animals from increasingly aggressive poaching syndicates who hunt rhinos for their horns, many of which get smuggled into China.
