There are many different ways to count money, and in Japan , there are 2 different types of counting exist. One is called "Tate Yomi" and the other one is called "Yoko Yomi" which we may call it like "Vertical counting" and "Horizontal counting"
We count money in both way to make sure the number is correct.
What is most important when counting money is an accuracy and not the speed.
Especially, if you are not used to count money, try to concentrate, on setting up money nicely, before you count.
You should spread money equally, and that will make you easier to count.
Let's start from "Vertical counting"
(vertical counting)
1. Take a money and shift it slightly.
2. Put one end inbetween your fingers and hold it.
3. If you have any slip stopper you may use it.
4. Slide a note and flip it with your ring finger to make it sure that you are counting only 1 piece at a time.
5. When you finish counting 50 pcs then you move on to "horizontal counting"
(horizontal counting)
1.In a horizontal counting, use your thumb to hold the notes from the top and place other fingers on the back. and then spread the notes evenly by rotating whole notes.
2.Count 4 notes each.
3.If there are 50 notes then you count 12 times and check 2 left.
(Bundling)
1.We normally bundle 100 pcs toghether. If you counted 50pcs then do it twice and then bundle toghether.
2.Prepare the strip of paper specially made for bundling.
3.Split the note into half and put in one end of the strip.
4.Pull the strip over the note tightly and fix it with a sticker.
5.Sometimes we stamp or sign on the strip.
This is an over view of counting money. Please check other videos for more details.
