10: Gary Kasparov
Gary Kasparov was born on April 13, 1963 in Baku, Azerbaijan – which at the time had been part of the USSR. Gary is one of the smartest men ever born. He became the youngest world chess champion back in 1985 at the comparatively young age of only 22 years. He was also the first world chess champion to be defeated in competition by a supercomputer.

By the time Marilyn was 10, she was revealed to have the mental capacity of a 23-year-old woman through taking two different intelligence tests. She was then eventually listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the highest IQ in the world.

Shakespeare was one of the smartest people ever for radically different reasons than the rest of the people on the list. Shakespeare was not necessarily a genius of mathematics or the sciences, but he is still considered one of the most gifted intellects in literary history. He is often recognized as the most brilliant English writer of all time, with a grasp of the English language and a wry sense of humor and storytelling that no writer before or since has been able to equal.
