A royal banquet was held in Stockholm, Sweden, on Thursday for this year's Nobel Prize winners, including 2 Japanese scientists.
Takaaki Kajita, a winner in physics, and Satoshi Omura, a laureate in physiology or medicine, were among some 1,300 attendees.
Kajita arrived at the venue smiling, accompanied by Swedish Princess Sofia, the wife of Prince Carl Philip.
He was seated between Queen Silvia and Princess Sofia.
Omura made his entrance with his daughter, Ikuyo, and Ulla Lofven, the wife of the Swedish Prime Minister.
The dishes that were served are said to have had Japanese elements, reflecting the interest of the head chef.
Representatives of the laureates in each category expressed their gratitude at the banquet.
