I am happy that these little things, made so many years ago by Leo Monosson still may have sensitive audience and that -- as we may see it here -- he finally won.
Nevertheless, I cannot think without sadness how tragic was his fate and his end: exile, exodus, complete oblivion and poverty...- like so many other his compatriots. Only because he was regarded in some moment as...unerwünscht (thanks D.!), delicately speaking - in the country for which he had given SO much. I can't help feeling disgust and contempt.
I am sceptical and pessimist in that respect: these things may return and happen again, therefore constant reminding seems indispensable, even on the background of these cheerful melodies.
Beautiful, delicate vocal with charming orchestration - the waltz about the night which is just...happening.
Uncredited Odeon for which he sang as Leo Frank.
For Grammophon - Leo Monosson
For Electrola - Leo Moll
For Ultraphon - Leo Emm
as well as some other combinations.
