This is the process of you adapting to a new environment, also known as "culture shock".
It's a weird, if somewhat predictable, occurrence.
You land somewhere new.
Things are different to back home.
You feel out of sorts and experience an emotional "slump".
And progressively, you come out of that slump and see your new environment with new eyes.
You've "adapted".

What many people don't realise is that "culture shock", or cultural adaptation, can affect you anytime you go into a new environment.
That means you can EVEN get culture shock when you come home from overseas... or when you move into different environments in your home country.
