The WTA has confirmed that World No.1 Iga Swiatek and defeated US Open finalist Ons Jabeur have secured their places in the series finals set to be played in Fort Worth, Texas.
Swiatek will make her second WTA Tour finals appearance as the event returns to the United States for the first time since 2005.
The World No 1 sports a massive lead at the top of the WTA Rankings and appears to have guaranteed that she will hold the top spot at the end of the year.
“I’m really excited to qualify for the WTA Finals this year for the second time in my career and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans in Fort Worth,” Swiatek said.
Meanwhile, Jabeur will be making her debut as the season-ending tournament heads to the state-of-the-art Dickies Arena.
Jabeur has lost two Grand Slam finals to Swiatek this year but also made history as the first African and first Arab woman to win an ATP 1000 Masters title when she overcame Jessica Pegula in the Madrid Open final back in May.
“It is such an honor to qualify for the WTA Finals,” Jabeur said. “It was my goal from the beginning of the season to play the tournament and I can’t wait to compete as one of the top 8 players in the world.
American duo Pegula and Coco Guaff are on the brink of clinching their places in the season-ending event.
