In this second video on the Epson HX-20 we dig into the microcassette drive to replace a worn belt. The first snag we run into is that the replacement belt is too long, so we have to wait another week for a new belt. We also find some crusty leaking caps on the cassette PCB as well which require attention.
We take a tour of the expansion unit. First, we find out how to disassemble it and then we take a look at what all those parts on the PCB are there for. Then we reattach the expansion unit to the main unit so we can use it once more.
Will we be able to get that microcassette drive operation again? Will the printer spring into life with its characteristic mini dot matrix impact printer sounds? Join us and find out.
