Adobe added object selection tools to Lightroom masking and this is a *HUGE* deal for landscape photographers. Unlike portraits or still life, a landscape photo doesn’t always have a singular subject. The subject *is* the landscape and the Select Subject options fall short. Now with Object Selection, you can quickly build a mask for distinct elements of a scene. Better still, the selections interoperate with the existing masking tools including luminosity masks.
In this video, I’ll show you how the object selection tools work, and share a few tips to get the best masks possible with them.
By the way, if you are a portrait photographer or process photos of people, you’ll love the improved tools for detecting faces and other elements like skin, teeth, hair, eyes, lips, and teeth.
