한국당, 오늘 최고위서 박근혜 '제명'…친박계 반발
The main opposition Liberty Korea Party says it will decide this afternoon and make an official announcement on whether to strip former President Park Geun-hye of party membership.
The party had earlier demanded she leave in writing,... but the former president didn't respond during a ten-day appeal period,... which ended Thursday.
If removed, Park will become the first ex-president to have been expelled from a party.
The party has been seeking to sever its ties with Park due to her tainted image following the massive power abuse scandal that led to her impeachment.
Meanwhile, in what could be another problematic situation for Park -- two of her former secretaries were arrested early Friday,... on bribery charges.
Ahn Bong-geun and Lee Jae-man are accused of receiving at least at least three-and-a-half million U.S. dollars from the intelligence agency from 2013 until July last year.
Lee has reportedly told prosecutors that Park ordered him to accept the funds.
If true,... it could add to the charges on the former leader,... already on trial for bribery and other corruption charges.
