Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger answer a question at the 2003 Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting about their reading habits.
Warren Buffett is famously a sponge. He picks up data everywhere. The bulk of his reading is primary source material, such as annual report and 10K's. He also reads business publications like the Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Forbes, The Economist, and more. He reads numerous papers a day. All of it is in search of data and pattern recognition. He uses it to inform his investment decisions. The encouraging thing is that (today at least) he uses almost 100% public data to make decisions. The key is cumulative thinking on companies, which happens over a long period of time. He famously told a class that came to see him (paraphrasing): "Read 500 pages like this every day. All of you can do it, but I guarantee you not all of you will do it."
