hyrox sled push technique
To go from struggling with a 80kg sled push to comfortably sled pushing 160kg two weeks later I made these small tweaks to my sledge push technique.
Reposting my body from behind to up and over the sled allowed me to better leverage both gravity and my natural body weight to get the sled moving, which is often the trickiest part.
It also allows for a much more efficient transfer of power through the upper body, hip hinge & drive the sled movement forward from my legs.
A pushing position variation you may see Hyrox competitors use, is the locked out straight arms. This position has very similar benefits, to leaning up & over the sled so it really is a matter of personal preference when choosing between the two.
Another way I’ve found it helpful to think about the sled push is if you’ve ever ridden a bike or motorcycle you’ll be familiar with that feeling is leaning in & making the body feel part of the bike, to turn, that same principle of integrating your body into the sled in that up and over position can really help with pushing significantly more weight more easily in the sled push.
