Gangwondo is a mountainous, forested province in northeast South Korea. Ski resorts, Yongpyong and Alpensia, in the county of Pyeongchang are host sites of the 2018 Winter Olympics. In the east, Seoraksan National Park has mountainside temples and hot springs. Odaesan National Park's gentle slopes lead to the Stone Seated Buddha, while the steep cliffs of Chiaksan National Park offer more challenging trails.


Jumunjin Beach

Jumunjin Beach is located in the northernmost part of Gangneung, and is a great place for summertime family vacations due to the beach's shallow water. The sound of calm waves will chase the heat away, while the dense pine forest provides cool shade against the sun. Visitors can take advantage of the amenities along the beach as well, such as the forest fitness park, family hotels, and the nearby campsite.

Bangtan Bus Stop

Visiting filming sites of dramas and movies has always been popular but now ARMY is on the hunt for the sites that appeared in BTS music videos and on album covers!

The city of Gangneung in Gangwon Province has set up a replica of a bus stop featured on the cover of BTS’ full-length album “You Never Walk Alone.”

Gangneung, a city on the east coast of the country, recently built a bus stop on one of its beaches, Jumunjin. The location is the spot where the shooting of BTS’ album jacket took place.

The new bus stop will not function as an actual stop for local buses, according to the Gangneung city government. It will instead serve as a photo spot for BTS fans and tourists.

The beach has become a popular tourist attraction since it appeared in the popular tvN series “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,” which aired from December 2016 to January 2017.

Released in February 2017, BTS’ full-length album “You Never Walk Alone” has enjoyed popularity, especially the lead track “Spring Day.”

Anmok Beach

Anmok Beach spans over 500 meters in length and covers an area of 20,000 square meters. The beach is often packed with families on vacation. Right in front of the beach is Anmok Port, where around 23 fishing boats can be moored to unload their catch of seaweed in the spring; flatfish, squid, octopus in the summer; and sailfin sandfish, and pollack in the fall and winter. The place has also become more popular since the main street along the beach earned the reputation as "coffee street."
