Plymouth is a free bootsplash for GNU/Linux supporting animations using Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) and KMS driver. It gets packed into the initrd. Plymouth also handles user interaction and graphical "splash" screens when booting and shutting down a Kali Linux system.
