In this video I will show you how to animate CAD assemblies (in this case from SolidWorks) in the vfx software Blender. Blender is a free software that has very powerful and intuitive rendering and animating capabilities that far exceed those available in SolidWorks and other similar CAD software. In this video I create a geometry in solidworks, import the files from solidworks to blender, then set up and render the animation in blender. As a bonus I also show a trick for converting a sequence of images into an animation (mp4 file) using the software HitFilm express.
This video is geared towards beginners but can easily be adapted for more complex models and assemblies to quickly achieve near photorealistic results. In my experience, engineers are not familiar that this software exist, and they could really use it for nice presentations and for marketing purposes. I hope this tutorial helps!
