Shortly before midnight on April 5, Ellie the goat gave birth to the first of five kids! The last four were born after midnight. This is our eighth set of quintuplets in 19 years of raising Nigerian dwarf goats. The tendency to have so many kids is genetic, and almost all of our does that have had five kids have been daughters, granddaughters, great granddaughters, etc of a buck that we bought back in 2004 whose mom actually had six one time! Although we have never had six here, we have sold at least two does that we know of that went on to have six kids — and they also shared the same genetics.
