It's time for another book review.
This time it's Graham Greene's The Quiet American.
I had ZERO idea of what this book was about nor had I read any of his other books. It was on a whim that I bought the book at a local bookstore and I was pleasantly surprised how the story sucked me in. Themes in the book are about innocence, naivety, colonisation, love triangle, observation, perception, violence, lies and guilt.
Some quotes that hit the mark for me:
"“Innocence is a kind of insanity”
“Sooner or later...one has to take sides. If one is to remain human.”
“Thought's a luxury. Do you think the peasant sits and thinks of God and Democracy when he gets inside his mud hut at night?”
“One forgets so quickly one’s own youth…”
This is a great book and highly recommended.
