Troops, weapons and equipment for the Anglo-French Rapid Reaction Force in Bosnia arrived in the Croatian city of Split Saturday.
Despite their deployment, local commanders are still unable to say what role the force now being assembled will play.
More than 100 British troops arrived at Split airport, as part of a contingent of 300 to arrive over the next two days.
The men will initially be deployed at Tomislavgrad.
But most of them will be deployed as part of the Anglo-French Rapid Reaction Force mandated by the United Nations.
The rapid reaction force will be comprised of up to 12, 500 troops, armed with artillery and mortars.
Their chief mission will be to protect U-N peacekeepers in the war-torn country.
