The Toyota GR Yaris exemplifies Toyota's new vision, moving towards vehicles that are more passionate and exciting, a stark contrast to their previous reputation for producing mundane cars. This GR Yaris is particularly special as it is a homologation special, designed to meet WRC rules, allowing Toyota to compete in rally racing. As a result, this compact hot hatch inherits much of the rally car DNA.

In Forza Horizon 5, the GR Yaris excels on tracks thanks to its high downforce. It handles sharp corners exceptionally well, outperforming even the favorites in the Modern Rally class. However, this performance shifts on sprint races with long straight roads, where the high downforce becomes a disadvantage. The GR Yaris struggles to reach its top speed, making it an easy target for its rivals.

As a bonus, I tested this car on dirt tracks in the B700 class, and it's here where it truly shines. In a class where top speed isn't crucial and on race types where straight-line speed is less important, the GR Yaris's grip on dirt is outstanding. It easily outperforms competitors, such as the Subaru WRX.

Overall, the Toyota GR Yaris is a dedicated track car or an excellent rally car, but it is best kept away from sprint races. It's one of the best cars I've tested, and like its real-life counterpart, it will undoubtedly be a valuable asset in the future of Forza Horizon 5.
