Ruckus erupted in the Karnataka assembly on the second day of the Monsoon Session as BJP MLAs stormed the well of the House while protesting against the alleged delay in implementation of the five poll promises made by the ruling Congress in the run-up to the assembly elections.
Karnataka BJP MLAs staged a protest on Tuesday in the Vidhana Soudha (Karnataka Assembly) claiming that the Karnataka government has "delivered nothing" on the promises made during the run-up to the assembly elections that were held in May earlier this year. Former Karnataka CM and veteran BJP leader Yediyurappa slammed the ruling Congress and said that they have made a lot of promises but delivered nothing.
Ahead of the 17 July opposition meeting in Bengaluru, the Congress and the AAP seem to have resolved major differences. The Congress party has agreed to back the Aam Aadmi Party against the Centre’s executive order on Delhi bureaucrats. This has brought the opposition unity efforts from crash-landing before take-off. The differences between the Congress and the AAP over the ordinance had threatened to derail the opposition unity ahead of the 2024 general election. The opposition unity still is very fragile.
