This year′s Global Peace Index is out... and it has South Korea as the forty-second most peaceful country in the world.
The report, released by the Institute for Economics and Peace on Wednesday, once again ranked Iceland as the world′s most peaceful country, …followed by Denmark and Austria.
South Korea, which jumped ten ranks from last year, stood near Latvia, Laos and Mongolia.
North Korea remained in the bottom ten with countries like Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The report, which shows an increasing divide between the most and least peaceful regions, says the world is less peaceful now than it was in 2008.
The cost of violence around the world reached a record 14-point-three trillion U.S. dollars in 2014, which is about 13-percent of the global GDP.
