You really need to avoid blood-sucking mites on your worms and in your worm farm.
By introducing fresh leaves and soil from the garden there is a chance that you just may introduce this nasty creature that can devastate your populations.
Not a lot is known about mites on worms and in the mite world, there are very few scientists who study them.
As far as I know, they are a cross-species of the spider and there are both good and bad mites.
I think that the mites found on worms can be classed as bad because I feel they may be from the parasitic blood-sucking species.
The best way to avoid mites is just don't provide them access to your well-loved farms by introducing local soils and leaves.
I would recommend hot composting first if you are making your own beddings from leaves, sticks, and local materials.
