On a hot August day in 2021, I got a report from a railfan Facebook group that stone train 94M was leaving the Annville quarry with a nice trio of EMD standard cab locomotives. As soon as I set up trackside, the dispatcher comes over the radio letting them know they'll met a westbound 65K at DORF, which is the control point in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. Track work one main two prevented both trains from continuing past one another, so we get to see the signals and cross overs in action!
Control points on the Norfolk Southern Harrisburg Line are located about 10 miles apart and have dispatcher controlled signals and switches or cross overs so trains can change tracks. Dispatchers communicate with trains letting them know what will happen miles in advance. I include some radio conversations to help explain what the trains are doing.
Scanner conversations were provided by both my Yaesu FT270R radio and Norfolk Southern Harrisburg East Broadcastify feed archives through a premium membership. I highly recommend Broadcastify Premium, it's not very expensive!
