Don Parker's motto was "Dance music as it should be played". Between November 1925 - November 1926, this American bandleader led a British band at the Piccadilly Hotel (and the Kit-Cat Club). During these dates he recorded for Vocalion. His band isn't heard very often but I intend to help remedy that situation, so here's an example of his output. His band displays a deft introduction and then increases in tempo.
