Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on Thursday told reporters that the city police are probing a scam involving manipulation of TRPs. He identified three channels, namely Fakt Marathi, Box Cinema, and Republic-TV which are reportedly involved in distorting the apparatus used by BARC to rate television channels.
Speaking to India Today's Rahul Kanwal exclusively, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh gives out a complete detail about how Republic-TV was doing a scam. He said, "Our investigation is underway. We will try and make a full proof case. We already have some evidence. We will conduct a very professional and thorough investigation".
He further said, "Anyone is entitled to conduct legal proceedings. Everyone knows who was running an agenda-based campaign." "Our probe revealed that households were being paid rs 400 to Rs 500 to manipulate TV ratings," Param Bir Singh added.
