Mr. Decker of the veterinary services Gütersloh (Germany) has implemented the PrioCHECK™ Trichinella AAD solution in his laboratory and has found it to offer many advantages over the traditional pepsin digestion method.
The Gütersloh Trichinella state laboratory, which is located at Germany’s largest slaughterhouse, tests an average of 25,000 slaughtered pigs for Trichinella each day. Pepsin’s limited availability, poor quality and rising costs have led the service to search for new methods to meet the statutory requirements for Trichinella testing. Since July 1, 2015 the laboratory has been monitoring for Trichinella exclusively with the PrioCHECK™ Trichinella AAD procedure.
