Forward Zack Kassian will miss Canada's two remaining preliminary-round games at the IIHF world junior championship for his hit on a Czech Republic opponent on Tuesday night.
During the second period of Canada's 7-2 rout of the Czechs, Kassian was assessed a match penalty for a high hit on defenceman Petr Senkerik. Senkerik crumpled to the ice and was eventually strapped to a brace and carted from the ice on a stretcher. A match penalty carries an automatic one-game suspension. IIHF officials added a second game to Kassian's punishment on Wednesday morning.
