Rammstein Nijmegen Compilation Live at Goffertpark
Rammstein is a German metal band that, in their own words, produces "Tanzmetall", or a synthesis of progressive metal, industrial and techno, with some gothic influences. However, Rammstein claims to have developed a completely own (German) style. Guitarist Paul Landers and drummer Christoph Schneider say in an interview on Pinkpop '97 that there is no scene, but similar bands. This probably refers to the Slovenian group Laibach and the German bands Eisbrecher, Megaherz and Die Krupps. Unlike these bands, Rammstein became world famous with his music.
The vocals are provided by Till Lindemann and can be characterized as raw, blunt and dominant. The guitar music mainly consists of very heavy electric parts, and mainly serves as the engine of the music. In addition to drums, Rammstein uses a keyboard,
which is used in almost all songs. The music has a lot in common with industrial. Rammstein doesn't just have hard numbers; their oeuvre also includes tender ballads such as Seemann, Klavier, Nebel, Ohne Dich, Stirb nicht vor mir, Ein Lied, Frühling in Paris, Roter Sand and Diamant.
The band consists of six members from the former GDR and has never changed in composition:
Till Lindemann (vocals), previous band: First Arsch, solo project: Lindemann
Richard Z. Kruspe (lead guitar), previous bands: Orgasm Death Gimmick, Die Firma, First Arsch, solo project: Emigrate
Oliver Riedel, nickname Ollie (bass guitar), previous band: The Inchtabokatables
Paul Landers (rhythm guitar), previous bands: Feeling B, Die Firma, First Arsch
Christian Lorenz, nickname Flake (keyboard), previous bands: Feeling B
Christoph Schneider, nickname "Doom" (drums) previous bands: Feeling B, Die Firma
