Mary Anderson,Oral Chemotherapy Registered Nurse Clinician, with the Norton Cancer Institute, explains the different types of chemotherapy treatments available and what to expect while going through treatments.
It's not uncommon for somebody undergoing chemotherapy to have a decreased appetite for a day or two or three. That's okay, what you want to focus on, on those days when you don't have a whole lot of appetite is to make sure that you drink your fluids and also eating small frequent snacks instead of focusing on three large meals every day. Fluids that you can drink while if you have a decreased appetite, include water broth, soup, popsicles, gelatin, and even smoothies or nutritional supplement drinks.
Small snacks that you can eat during the day can include yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, chicken, peanut butter, beans. So there's many healthy choices that you can eat and snack on throughout the day.
If you see yourself losing a lot of weight and you're going for many days without eating make sure you call your doctor's office and notify your doctor.
