Top Egyptologist Zahi Hawass took to social media on Saturday describing a tweet by Tesla CEO Elon Musk in which he stated that the pyramids were built by aliens, as "hallucination."
Musk tweeted on July 31 saying, "The pyramids were built by aliens," prompting a response from Hawass, the former minister of antiquities, and Rania Al Mashat, Egypt's minister of international cooperation.
Hawass told his followers on social media that the inscriptions found inside the great pyramid tell the story of the king it was built for as well as those who built them.
He continued by saying that inside the tombs of the pyramid builders was proof that they were Egyptian and not slaves as had previously been believed.
"The Pyramid was a national project of the whole nation," Hawass said.
