RMSC's 2020/2021 Featured exhibit.
Breaking barriers in the arts and sciences. Amplifying the voices of those who deserve to be heard. Refusing to take no for an answer. These are the actions of Changemakers.
Discover the inspiring stories of women who acted to help shape Rochester’s history this November in the Rochester Museum & Science Center’s community-curated exhibition, The Changemakers: Rochester Women Who Changed the World. Visitors will be transported through history and inspired to shape the future as they move through artifact-rich, immersive spaces. They can examine authentic collections objects and walk in the shoes of local women who changed the world through a series of interactive and participatory experiences. Located in the Riedman Gallery and throughout the third floor of the Museum, the exhibit is organized in four sections:
- Organizing for Change illuminates the collective action of those who help unify communities for a common cause.
- Advocating for Change explores activism and tells the stories of those who stand up for the oppressed.
- Inventing Change tells stories of women who harnessed their skills, creativity, and persistence to create something new. Lastly,
- Enterprising Change celebrates those who identified needs in their community and took a risk to find a solution.
This exhibit shares the stories of more than 100 local historical and contemporary women visionaries, trailblazers, inventors, social innovators, and entrepreneurs. By sharing the stories of women who are just like them, the RMSC hopes to empower visitors of all ages and backgrounds to make their own change and become a part of the next generation of Changemakers.
