Iapetus, in Greek mythology, is the Titan of death, skill, and the pillar of the west, the last of the four pillars that helped overthrow their father and who held fast the universe. He mingled with Oceanid Clymene and fathered Prometheus (Titan of foresight), Epimetheus (Titan of an afterthought), Atlas (Titan of strength), and Menoetius (Titan of violent rage).
