Tough, but not unfair. Tight, but not cramped. Long, but not arduous. The first level? MAP01 short, but E4M1 hard! And ammo? Low, but fair - just be sure to make use of the chainsaw and berserk BEFORE you run out, as I did! The backpack and BFG only appear later on....
... Puzzl-ey, but you never get lost. Not slimey (no nukage!), yet satisfying. Shaken, not stirred. Floats like a butterfly (cool visuals), stings like a bee. I tortoised my way through, I didn't hare'd. Slow and steady, and I won the game... Ok, that's enuff.... ;)
Cyberdemons take on the role of the E4M2 one and can be telefragged, or avoided - IE setpieces or map puzzles. I missed the secret map so after the WAD proper, I warped to it and played it too on Ultraviolence, from a pistol start. Just look for ledges hugging corners over lava pits, a bunch of secrets found in ALL maps that way. Totally doable!
So all in all, it was hard but not freakishly so. The design choices made the episode as a whole feel like one, single place - it's own section of Hell!
Minor spoiler - the SIGIL download is powered by 'SendOwl.' :D
