With the Who Dunnit stunt pulled by the producers of AMC Networks' hit TV show, The Walking Dead, in its Season 6 finale episode, TWD fans will be left in the dark until Season 7 starts -- 6 months from now! This was a dramatic -- and cheap -- stunt by AMC Networks, one that left several TWD critics scratching their head. It's also a big risk to AMC Networks own stock -- AMCX.
AMCX is the real victim of Lucille, the infamous bat wielded by penultimate bad guy Negan. AMCX has been pummeled in the markets, losing 14% YTD. It also lost 3% the day after the Season 6 finale episode aired. But due to a host of fundamental and technical factors, AMC Networks producers have to be super careful not to ruin The Walking Dead. AMCX is already in a precarious situation in the markets. Alienating rabid TWD fans could be a very bad business decision.
