With a blanket of snow, the Lion’s Head Lookout hike on the Bruce Peninsula is very pretty and a great workout too! Plus the cliff views of Lake Huron’s Caribbean coloured waters are spectacular, and the pothole at the midway point is really cool. Make sure you check the forecast in winter and dress according to the weather. This hike is moderately technical, and also visits several 100 foot cliffs, so we don’t recommend it for young children. BUT, we do recommend hiking poles and crampons in winter to ensure your safety. Bring plenty of water and snacks. Here’s everything you need to know about this hike:
-Distance From Toronto (Yorkdale Mall): 244 km on 80km/h highways.
-Length: 8km for the out and back to the Lion’s Head Lookout (you can do a 16 km loop if you have time)
-Elevation Gain: 293m (some short but very steep climbs & decent)
-Difficulty: Moderate with some technical climbs and crossing cracks and crevices near the cliff.
-Accessibility: No. This hike has uneven surfaces and many ups & downs.
-Parking Oct 16 to May 14: Free
-Parking May 15 to Oct 15: 4 hrs - $20; Full Day - $30.

-Recommended to Bring: Hiking Shoes, Water, Snacks, hiking poles, and (winter only) trail crampons.
-If the snow is deep, it will take more effort to complete the trail!
-No toilets at trailhead in winter, I have seen comments that say there are port-a-potties in summer.
