Having your tonsils removed will not grossly change the frequency of the infection occurring or prevent infections happening in a normal person. The tonsil removal in the first place is worse probably done because of infection arising from the tonsils, tonsils acting and the source of infection. So removing them will reduce the frequency of infections in such cases. But just because you have a tonsil and you get t removed, it doesn’t prevent infections or it doesn’t remove or reduce the frequency of infections. Rather the tonsils are considered as an important part of your immunity system especially in childhood where they would prevent or rather reduce the occurrence of infections by fortifying your immune system. So removing your tonsils will not increase or reduce your chances of getting infected in the throat.
