Many firms buy health insurance for their workers, but the amounts paid for insurance might otherwise be paid in salary. In addition, companies withhold from employees' paychecks funds that pay to support two federal programs, Medicaid and Medicare, that provides health insurance to people 65 and older and to low-income or disabled people.
The United States went through substantial changes in 2010 with the PP-ACA, then a new president was elected with promises of even more changes to happen as soon as Senate and House agree to the changes. We watch from the seat of an "economist".
