In this beginner series, we cover all of the most important kettlebell exercises, that give you the most bang for your buck.
The Kettlebell Lunge is a phenomenal leg exercise that requires stability and coordination. The latter two aspects make this exercise a bit harder for Beginners compared to the Goblet Squat for example. We usually refer to the Reverse Lunge when we talk about lunges with kettlebells since they offer a lot of bang for their buck and are generally easier to execute.
When you set up the reverse lunge, you bring the kettlebell into the rack position in the goblet grip. You start stepping with your left (or right) leg backwards; putting your foot on its toes.
Do not place the foot down on its heels since this will change the biomechanics of the lift. Reach down to the floor with the knee of your leg that's behind.
Once you reach the ground, you keep your upper body straight while knees and hips form a 90 degree angle. When you stand back up, you follow the same sequence backwards.
