Mont Saint-Michel has been on our bucket list for years, and during our last week in Normandy, France, we finally got to visit! We've been told that both sunset and sunrise are a must, so that's exactly what we did! We stayed the night in a nearby town to make sure we could see Mont Saint-Michel during different times of the day, as well as at both low and high tide.

To avoid the crowds at this popular destination, try going in the evening after most tourists have left for the night - if you are going during the summer, even better, since the sun does not set until late. You will find the streets mostly empty to enjoy, which was perfect for a combat veteran like Danny. If you want to do an Abbey tour, purchase your tickets in advance to reserve your time slot and pay the extra couple of Euros for the audio tour - it was well worth it!

We had a great time visiting this iconic landmark - it really does give off fairytale vibes!
