Durvun Tsagiin Tal Four Seasons of the Steppe, traditional Mongolian folk song, arranged for brass band by Judith Hayes, performed by Bilton Silver (Rugby) Band at Rugby Theatre, February 2009.
This arrangement is based on a song called Durvun Tsagiin Tal (Four Seasons of the Steppe). The Mongolians regard this as their National Song, celebrating the rolling grassland, or Steppe, which covers almost all of this huge country. On holiday there in 2008, I heard it just about everywhere... and in many styles, from traditional ballads, easy listening and pop, to the astonishing traditional Mongolian Khöömii (or throat singing)... and I even heard a disco trance version...
This live recording is of the world premiere of this arrangement! *Please* forgive a slightly rocky opening, a few clips and some tuning problems and the sneeze near the end! Hope you enjoy it...dedicated to Jaga, Carita, Carol, Ed, Erin, Karin, Larry, Tony, Sabine, Sofia, Oomba and Bayaraa (they said it couldn't be done!!)
