The 8 O'Clock Chimes were used at the Kerridge Odeon St. James Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand. Other suburban independent theatres in New Zealand also adopted the use of this clip which played just before the 8pm movie. Reportedly some managers required the projectionist to hit the screen with this clip at exactly 8.00pm or the projectionist would be reprimanded.
