Monsoon floods in Pakistan have killed at least 1,100 people, including 380 children, according to authorities. Army helicopters have worked to rescue stranded families from rooftops and drop care packages to people in inaccessible regions.
The United Nations has appealed for more than $160 million in aid for the 33 million affected by the destruction, while UN Chief Antonio Guterres is scheduled to visit Pakistan next week to see the effects of the climate catastrophe.
The organization has called the flood an “unprecedented climate catastrophe.”
