STORYLINE:
Hamas security forces pushed back dozens of angry Gazans who were trying to cross the border into Egypt on Saturday, after Egyptian border guards stopped them from going through.
As the angry crowd chanted and jostled at the Rafah crossing, Egyptian soldiers watched from the top of the terminal wall, as Hamas security forces moved in to control the crowd.
A line of uniformed Hamas security forces blocked the gate through the border, and beyond them a line of Egyptian soldiers spanned the road.
Several travellers at the Rafah crossing say about 200 people had waited to cross into Egypt on Saturday but were denied entry.
Dozens then pushed up against a terminal fence, until Hamas forces cordoned off the area.
The commotion came just a week after Egypt permanently reopened the crossing and lifted travel restrictions on Gazans.
It wasn't immediately clear why the Gazans were prevented from crossing into Egypt.
Gaza's Hamas rulers have complained that despite Egypt's ending of its four-year blockade, there are still limitations on Palestinian travel.
