The first time we saw Mali Uli Place we were amazed by the bi-coastal views and breathtaking beauty of Kula and Keokea. Mornings are our favorite time of the day, sitting with a cup of coffee taking in the view and feeling the cool, crisp mountain air as the Maui sun rises at our backs.
We love reading on the lanai, listening to the waterfall or taking a stroll through the terraced garden.
Up here you can see four Hawaiian Islands, and five different climate zones. There's really no place like it. Keokea is a small historic country town on the side of Haleakala. On weekends we like to meet friends and neighbors at Grandma's Coffee House.
Our home has a unique floor plan with 3 of the 4 bedrooms on the main level. Each room offers spectacular ocean and mountain views and their own sense of space. There's also a master retreat on the second story that can be accessed from the main level or its own separate entrance.
We love the style and architectural details, Imperial plaster walls and ceilings, with varied texture and color, cherry hardwood floors and a propane gas fireplace which makes it cozy on cooler winter nights. The climate could not be more perfect.
Two lanais are completely private and peaceful, each with a unique feel that extends our useable living space.
At the end of the day, looking down from our perch, we enjoy seeing the changing colors, cloud formations and rays of sunlight that dance across the valley floor. Every evening, the sunset provides a unique show eventually giving way to the rise of the city lights twinkling in the distance. This is Upcountry Living in Keokea and its why we've called it home for the past 8 years.
