Some of my very favourite running memories don’t revolve around races at all… it’s all about making adventures happen in amazing places, simply for the sake of the adventure. The JDF is a stunning 47km/29 mile point-to-point route on the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia. It’s typically done as a 3 to 5 day thru-hike, and its famous for its coastal scenery, beautiful old growth trees, roaring waterfalls, remote and technically challenging trails… annnnd its mud.
Recommended Gear List (just some of my favourite things I carry with me for remote adventures):
Water Filter: Ketadyne BeFree Filter
Bear Spray
Waterproof jacket, gloves
Inreach
First Aid : Sam Splint, Tensor Bandage, Emergency Blanket
Shoes: Arc’teryx Norvan LD 3
Pack: Salomon Adv Skin 12L
Hawkins Cheezies
