Come take a front row ride on Matugani, a relocated Intamin Accelerator Coaster, located at Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo, Iowa.
Matugani is an Intamin Accelerator Coaster that was relocated from Liseberg in Gothenburg, Sweden where it was known as Kanonen from 2005 till its removal in 2016. Kanonen was purchased by Lost Island and had the coaster refurbished before being relocated to the park to open with the park in 2022. However, the coaster remained closed during the park's debut season due to mechanical and supply chain issues. Matugani opened with the park for the 2023 season and became a favorite among Lost Island Theme Park's guests.
The ride starts with a surprisingly powerful hydraulic launch which quickly accelerates the train to 46.6 MPH in just under 2 seconds. It then sends riders over a 78.7' tall top hat. Following the top hat, rider's will experience a thrilling combo of ejector airtime, floater airtime, high positive Gs, hangtime filled inversions, and a few snappy transitions. Despite having an extremely short layout, Matugani quickly became one of my favorite Intamin Accelerator coasters as it features a full layout filled with exciting elements following its top hat. This is something that Top Thrill Dragster and Xcelerator, the two other Intamin Accelerator Coasters I've ridden, did not have.
