Akrotiri on Santorini is the Pompeii of Greece, an ancient town buried during a volcanic eruption. The cataclysmic eruption around 1600 BCE changed the shape of Santorini and created a huge tsunami, but somehow preserved details of the culture, art and everyday lives of its inhabitants.
I visited there with friends in January 2020. A few days later I was able to see and film artefacts from Akrotiri at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens.
