"In my country all the dogs are regarded as part of the family and they are very, very strict about the way you treat the dogs in my country. And I hope that along the way with shows like this, and with more and more information that's coming out about dogs and how intelligent they actually are and how much they give you, that people here will learn that dogs are not just another animal, but animals do have feelings."

STORYLINE:
In the Philippines, pets have taken to the catwalk as part of a stunt to raise funds for an animal shelter.
Dubbed "Furry Tales," the fashion show attracted ordinary pet lovers, animal activists and local celebrities.
Aside from dogs, the fashion show featured birds, cats and even an orangutan.
The organiser of the show, Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), lobbies the government in its fight to stamp out animal cruelty.
Most Filipinos are renowned for their love of dogs as pets, although a significant minority, usually in far-flung provinces, still cling to the idea of keeping dogs for food.
"People here will learn that dogs are not just another animal, but animals do have feelings," said Pernille Harboe, the show's Danish fashion designer.
