So you’ve heard of the Law of Attraction, right? Well, here’s one way this plays out, with an explanation from psychology literature.
In short, the ‘Theory of Self-Verification’ (Swann) holds that you subcsoncisbously want others to see you how you see yourself.
If you believe you’re inherently worthy, likeable and of value, you’ll seek out others who view you that way, and you’re more likely to achieve your goals and be satisfied with life.
Whereas if you believe you’re unworthy, ‘not enough’ and undeserving of happiness and success, you’ll seek out those who reinforce this view, and subconscious ‘sabotage’ your progress. You might sabotage a loving relationship, hold yourself back from opportunities, convince yourself that you’re not worthy of growth…
Interesting, right?
The key message here is that your beliefs shape your reality.
